Brass monkey VLM training run

I am so pleased the Brass Monkey proved a success for me it was all good bit of a fast start, but i managed to take control, and slow myself, i was hurting all down my right side, al week ive been in quite a bit of pain, apologies to my friends and Ian for my wingeing, I was a bit concerned, I am not sure how how much pain is normal really, but I just got to the moment in the race where I just had to get it done, but I got a pb 2:12 and can only think that I may be correcting some postural problems, I havnt done so much this week, Katie jones circuits were really good the no nonsense approach and doing the exercises right took their toll serious DOMS, then Brians Thursday's sprints it was to much my body said no, and I spent Friday just eating and resting. I can't do what I want my age will stop me , but I can do my best and I will. This week has been a good step towards my London goal. Perhaps I won't ache Sinnott this week we shall see :-)

V.L.M.

Bit of a week, with Katies circuit training and Brians track work, I am banjaxed so to speak and with Brass monkey on sunday, Im not sure... but we shall see Im going to go and see how I feel, could do with the long run, I have felt so cold this week, mind you it has been cold -5 at times, and work has been more trying than usual, but a few days of is coming soon so ill be able to rest a bit and recover, injuries and age aside I still hope to get to the start line but maybe not be able to do all the training, so times not quite so important but actually doing it is. so its all good

V.L.M.

Well here goes countdown on, effort tomorrow with the penine 10k should be interesting am gonna do a hard effort as Ive not managed to get out much this week though the great gang from st bedes soon to be saltaire pacers made me very welcome when I ran with them on tues, and I really enjoyed the run. Work is a bit intense at present with having to work over for Jan and sleep seems to be a problem well lack of it does. I find that I nod of on the sofa, in the car not while driving, in the bath even, so now having started to note the hours I sleep am getting to bed earlier, as I am needing more, than I think.
Went for a brilliant talk by Tom Williams about the marathon, seems consistency keep running regularly, nutrition, eat well whole foods unadulterated quality, and generally effort, are important loads of ideas, and pointers to completing this distance, amazingly Tom had recommended the very book I bought 2 days earlier Anita Bean, so I was chuffed to have chosen a good one, im still a bit unsure about the drinks the thing, as I drink soya I think that is great as protein drink after run, but i need a recipe or be able to digest something during my long runs, maybe some fruit juice with sugar and salt, its been a problem for me as I cant seem to find a gel that suits really. I will though as I need to find one pdq anyway must get some sleep am doin some serious running tomorrow
